Lincoln METCO sets Saturday Juneteenth celebration with program, performances and vendors

LINCOLN — The Lincoln Public Schools METCO program is hosting a community-wide Juneteenth celebration Saturday afternoon on school grounds, the marquee local event on an otherwise quiet news day across town hall, the schools and area outlets.

SCHOOLS

Lincoln METCO will present a Juneteenth celebration Saturday, June 6, from 12:30 to 4 p.m., sponsored by the Boston Bridges Initiative. Vendor tables open at 12:30 p.m., the formal program runs from 1 to 2 p.m., and outdoor festivities follow from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

The district is promoting a full afternoon of features: performances from the Boston Kroc Center, local and community vendors, a STEP team, poetry, dance, a DJ, food and bouncy houses. Organizers are billing it as a "joyful community wide celebration" open to families across Lincoln.

Families looking for context on the rest of the school year can also consult Superintendent's bi-weekly messages posted May 8 and May 22, and the LPS Family Feedback Survey remains open on the district homepage.

At Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, Superintendent/Principal Andrew Stephens' latest "LS News & Happenings" newsletter went out June 1; no new district-level announcements have been posted since.
