Lincoln METCO sets June 6 Juneteenth celebration; library trustees meet Thursday
LINCOLN — A slow midweek news cycle finds Lincoln looking ahead: the Library Board of Trustees meets Thursday night, the second annual Seed Library is taking root, and Lincoln METCO has set a Juneteenth community celebration for June 6.
SCHOOLS
Lincoln METCO will host a community-wide Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 6, from 12:30 to 4 p.m., sponsored by the Boston Bridges Initiative. Vendor tables open at 12:30, the formal program runs from 1 to 2 p.m., and outdoor festivities follow from 2:30 to 4, with Boston Kroc Center performances, the STEP team, poetry, food, dance, a DJ and bouncy houses on the bill.
In his most recent bi-weekly message to families, dated May 22, Superintendent's note flagged unsettled Memorial Day weekend weather and the dwindling number of school days left in the 2025-26 calendar. The annual LPS Family Feedback Survey for parents and caregivers remains open.
At Lincoln-Sudbury, the most recent communication from Superintendent/Principal Andrew Stephens to the community went out May 14, with no fresh district news posted this week. Families with prom-season questions can still consult the April 29 "Prom, Parties and Parked Cars" guidance the school circulated.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Lincoln Public Library is reminding residents that construction along Library Lane continues to complicate access and parking; staff are asking patrons to budget extra travel time and to check lincolnbigdig.com for updates.
The library has also launched its second annual Seed Library, opened submissions for the Virginia Rundell Award, and posted a tribute to longtime trustee Peter Sugar, who is stepping down from the Library Board of Trustees. The board's monthly meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 28.
