Lincoln METCO sets June 6 Juneteenth celebration on school campus

LINCOLN — With no fresh items in the town's News Flash, library calendar, or Lincoln-Sudbury feed on Saturday, the day's most concrete piece of Lincoln news was the Lincoln Public Schools METCO program's announcement of a community-wide Juneteenth celebration set for next weekend on the Lincoln campus.

SCHOOLS

Lincoln METCO is hosting a community-wide Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 6, sponsored by the Boston Bridges Initiative. Vendor tables open at 12:30 p.m., a formal program runs from 1 to 2 p.m., and outdoor festivities follow from 2:30 to 4 p.m., according to the district's homepage.

Organizers say the afternoon will include performances by the Boston Kroc Center, a step team, poetry, dance and a DJ, plus bouncy houses, food and local vendor tables. The event is open to the wider Lincoln community.

Families looking for the latest district update can also revisit Superintendent Parry Graham's office's most recent bi-weekly message, posted May 22, which framed the run-up to Memorial Day weekend; the next bi-weekly message is expected in early June. A separate LPS Family Feedback Survey remains open for parents and caregivers.
